Hi, I'm Christie Riehl (sounds like real), this is the start of my third year teaching at the Gresham Barlow Web Academy, a public non-profit charter school in Gresham, Oregon. I teach math online! It is a challenge to get students engaged but I am committed to it.
I graduated from Western Oregon University in March of 2010 with a MAT. The program that I was in was a hybrid model where our classes were online but we met face-to-face one Saturday a month. The GBWA is too a hybrid model where we have offices and classrooms for students to come to, however it is not required.
I am the proud mother of two beautiful children; my son, Tyler is 13 and Lexie is my 4 year old mini-me. My husband, Steve, is a huge support and anchor who will remind me to put the laptop down, stop working and enjoy our family, which I have been known to ignore while I grade or explore new tools to share with my students.
